mHealth4Afrika presented as case study during MAGIC Info Session on ICT-39, 14 December 2016

The MAGIC (Middleware for Collaborative Applications and Global Viritual Communities) Horizon 2020 Project organised a virtual session focused on opportunities for collaboration under the ICT-39-2017 Call on 14 December 2016. mHealth4Afrika was invited to present its activities from the perspective of sharing its experience as one of the four projects funded under the ICT-39-2015 Call. 

Dr Chipo Kanjo, Chancellor College, University of Malawi presented mHealth4Afrika's focus on addressing maternal and newborn healthcare delivery on a cross border basis based on addressing end-user requirements in the four participating countries. 

mHealth4Afrika is leveraging a user-centred design, Living Labs and Collaborative Open Innovation based approach leveraging complementary expertise from Europe and Africa and engagement with end-user communities. Chipo shared insight into the value of this approach to ensure that the platform is relevant to end-user requirements across four African countries and to share knowledge and build capacity among the participating countries. The co-design process was put in place during the project development phase with extensive situational analysis undertaken to inform the proposal focus and activities. Chipo highlighted the value of South - North and South -South collaboration and leveraging networks across the participating countries to build capacity and share experiences. 

This presentation provided insights into how mHealth4Afrika is addressing end-user requirements using an agile and iterative approach.
