mHealth4Afrika won HealthCare category in ICT Innovation Award, Malawi

The ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) held its 2018 General Assembly in Mangochi from 3rd to 4th November, 2018 under the theme Digital Inclusion through Innovation. Digital Inclusion means empowering people through information and communication technologies (ICTs). The Digital Inclusion through Innovation theme was derived at to promote ICT accessibility and use peoples and people living in rural areas; persons with disabilities; women and girls; and youth and children.

Prior to the event, ICTAM had a call for ICT innovations fitting the theme. The mHealth4Afrika application was submitted as one of the competing innovations. Out of the many submissions, 13 innovations (Padziwe Educational Tablet; Kodi Studio; Khusa App; LogicBroker; mHealth4Afrika application; Nutrition Assessment and Data Management System; AutoMUC; Lync-Energy Sys; Delta API; Ubongo; Lync-Bot; Fire Fighting Robot; and Vote Langa) were shortlisted to present at the awards gala by the panel of juries; including the mHealth4Afrika application.

Each shortlisted innovation was asked to pitch their innovations during plenary. After pitching, the jury had to select winners.

The main highlight of the event was the award presentations. The mHealth4Afrika platform won the Health Care category and received an award.
